2010 Organizers' Bios


Elizabeth Silleck --- Elizabeth Silleck ---

Elizabeth Silleck is the creator and lead organizer of Clean and Green, and with the help of her team, has expanded upon its original vision to create what is now an innovative, comprehensive approach to environmental awareness event planning. Elizabeth graduated from SUNY Purchase College, magna cum laude in 2001, and earned her J.D. from Pace University School of Law and Certificate in Environmental Law, magna cum laude in May, 2009.  Elizabeth has also been awarded numerous merit-based scholarships throughout her academic career. She was nominated for an Above the Bar Award, sponsored by the Westchester Business Journal, and was honored to receive the Con Edison Environmental Award, which was officially presented to her at the Westchester County Women's Hall of Fame. Elizabeth is awaiting admission to the New York State bar.

  Elizabeth works as a Regional Coordinator for the Energy $mart Communities Program, an outreach project of the New York State Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).  Serving Westchester and Bronx counties, Elizabeth is responsible for forging partnerships with municipalities, businesses and organizations to devise strategies for promoting energy efficiency and clean energy and providing direct outreach and marketing of NYSERDA's various technical assistance and financial incentive programs to facilitate energy efficiency and renewable energy projects at the commercial and residential levels. To enhance her knowledge of NYSERDA programs and energy efficiency technology, Elizabeth recently completed Building Analyst training from the Building Performance Institute (BPI), learning the technical and diagnostic details involved in performing a Comprehensive Home Assessment.

Elizabeth was recently appointed to the White Plains Sustainability and Environmental Enhancement Committee and was nominated to serve as a Director of the Westchester Women's Bar Association (WWBA).  Elizabeth currently co-chairs the WWBA New Lawyer's Committee, serves on the fundraising committee for the Public Interest Law Scholarship Organization at Pace Law School and is a member of the the American Bar Association’s Section of Environment, Energy and Resources. Through her extensive network including professionals in law, the non-profit environmental sector, business, development, academia and entertainment, Elizabeth expects Clean and Green’s eco-collaborative approach to grow and flourish.

Elizabeth is mother to a fourteen year old daughter, Jasmine, and takes great pride in Jasmine’s academic and extra-curricular accomplishments including soccer, basketball, hip-hop dance and photography. Elizabeth also loves dancing salsa, snorkeling, creative writing and social event planning.

Jessica Silver --- Jessica Silver ---

Jessica Silver is the Vendor Coordinator for White Plains: Clean and Green. When Jessica is not seeking green vendors in the Westchester community, Jessica is a second-year law student at Pace University School of Law and will graduate in May 2011 with certificates in both international and environmental law. At Pace, Jessica is also the President of the Environmental Law Society through which she coordinates environmental events for law students and faculty both on and off campus. Jessica also has interned over the last year for the New York Power Authority where she focuses on environmental justice.

Jessica graduated in 2008 from Tulane University, New Orleans as an English major. After returning to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Jessica worked with a small group at the Tulane/Xavier Center for Bioenvironmental Research to create a wetlands-related curriculum for 6th and 7th grade children living in the lower 9th ward of New Orleans. Jessica also spent her time organizing fundraisers for the Tibetan Association of Tulane. In 2007, Jessica traveled to India and helped build the non-profit "Lha" in Tso Pema, India, which houses a community library, a coffee shop, and a thrift shop, to benefit the Tibetan refugee community. Jessica also traveled around the world in 100 days on Semester at Sea and performed volunteer activities in thirteen countries.
